if you like madlib you would like tanya morgan

i think thats safe to assume right? im not off base with this am i? i mean its not as intertwined as the whole tanya morgan/little brother association (i promise anytime somebody mentions little brother i expect our name to be not that far behind, its good company tho) but its still on some 'safe to say' shit

so the newest office employee and myself are shootin the shit on some tangental conversation tip an she asks could we trade music or something. she is more W.A.S.P. than P.A.W.G. but still you can tell she be down in them lower east side dive bars gettin it in when she can. so i go 'yeah thats cool' and we begin talkin about music just a lil bit. i say 'yeah i havent been playin as much hip hop as i used to' and she retorts 'yeah me either i mean i was really really loving the intelligent music that was coming tho like madvillian and most of madlibs stuff' in my mind im thinking thats not so far fetched lemme really test her tho and i go 'yeah did you catch the demo version of the album?' and she goes 'yes the new stuff feels overproduced' this conversation went on for a while and she tells me about how she saw lib live and loves him and blah blah blah

the whole while in my mind im playin six degrees of tanya morgan...

  • madlib worked with doom worked with... no connection there
  • madlib worked with talib kweli worked with mos def worked with... nope
  • madlib worked with dilla worked with elzhi worked with little brother worked with von works with me

then i immediately began to think of ways to find out if she knows about my clark kenting. i mean rumors are swirling around here that im into something. film, music, art; something. i think they are just waiting for the other shoe to drop. i like to keep pay checks and mic checks seperate tho and i will evade them knowing exactly who i am for as long as i can. i dont want to be asked about my music here, thats not what im here for and frankly i think its less of genuine interest and more about 'how peculiar, you rap?!?!'

i mean its very feasible to believe she coulda bumped into some tanya morgan, hell its not like im not all over the internets or a friend who knows about her love for all things underground hip hop could have pointed her in our direction.

in other news hi tek found his way onto the new little brother album. i saw a post on a message board which prompted me to go to the ABB website. my mind then shuffled thru its endless media content and landed on the scene in why do fools fall in love when frankie ran back to cali with halle's character (nola? lola?) cus she wanted to get him some gigs and help him get back to the stage where he belongs. my mind works in mysterious ways lol

damn that is an awesome movie. sometimes id just toggle between that and high fidelity for days.

*yes they call me william, bill, will and all variations...

The work place can be a convoluted nightmare when it comes to relationships and I can understand why you’re hesitant to form any with others, especially women. Double the trouble when you’re undercover cool. ; )

Was this the first time you talked to her? Have you done anything that would give you away? Maybe she just digs you….hmmmm?? Yeah. Maybe she’s just that cool! Maybe she did find something on the internet or maybe girlfriend has her own supaa-powers and put 2 and 2 together. Never underestimate a woman’s intuition, love. : ) Plus, who was Clark Kent fooling with those glasses anyway?

I say, be thankful you had a connection with someone that shares your passion. She sounds like she turned you on…ask her to lunch. You’ll never know until you hear it from her and it’ll be easy to find out what she does and doesn’t know. Just don’t jump to conclusions or give in to misunderstandings if she says something that confuses you. Get clarity because it would be a shame if you let her slip away and it sounds like the girl has some potential. On a side note, you better find a girl with a little groupie in her because I can only imagine how hard it is on the spouses’ of those in the music business.

Oh and don’t wait too long…men do the chasing not the women. It’s already in the bag so have fun and don’t worry so much about running game….or playing them. It’s boring.
